Learn to Surf

Enjoy wonderful Surfing breaks Bundoran

Bundoran town is 10 mins drive from TPL and is the surf capital of Ireland!  A great selection of waves for all levels and a lovely surfing vibe about town.

Surf lessons are fun and affordable and suitable for all swimming abilities and ages from 5 years old up.
You don’t have to be brilliant first time but it is really good fun having a go and kids might just get the bug and be little pro surfers of the future!

Stand up Paddling

Stand up paddling has become a popular holiday activity.
A fun way to take to the water without being in in the water too much it is ideal for all ages and is something the whole family can do together.
Standing on your paddle boards you can glide across the calm water and admire the wonderful scenery that surrounds you.  Mullaghmore and Bundoran are popular SUP spots

Horse riding on the beach

TPL has two wonderful equestrian centres within 15 mins drive.
One is in Donegal and the other in Sligo with do beach rides for riders from beginner to experienced.
The scenery is breathtaking and it is a wonderful way to explore the Wild Atlantic Way.

Sligo Food Tours

Interested in organic gardening? The Organic Centre in Rossinver Co. Leitrim do a wide range or long term and short term courses on all things Organic or simply take a guided tour of their wonderful gardens.

Glencar Waterfall (25min drive from TPL)

 

Glencar Waterfall is 50ft high and is situated at Glencar Lough and served as an inspiration to the William Butler Yeats and features in his poem ‘The Stolen Child’

‘Where the wandering water gushes
From the hills above Glen-Car,
In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star,’

The waterfall is really impressive after rain and can be viewed from a lovely wooded walk.

Creevy Keel Court Cairn (3mins drive from TPL)

Dating from the Neolithic Period, 4000-2500 BC, This site is one of the finest examples of a Court Cairn in Ireland. It has a cairn, entrance passage, an oval court and a double chamber gallery. The excavations uncovered four cremation burials, decorated and undecorated Neolithic pottery, flint arrow heads, polished stone axes and other artefacts.

Things to do with Kids…

Eagles Flying* Highly recommended – (40mins drive from TPL)

Twice daily scientists train these birds for visitors and give information about the biology of these magnificent creatures. During these entertaining interactive bird shows visitors can experience different types of raptors flying right over their head or landing next to them.

It is also possible to touch some of them and some members of the audience may even have one flying to their own hand.
For the ones who prefer it more cuddly, there is also a large supervised Petting-Zoo.

Here, visitors can get hands-on with guinea-pigs, pigs, rabbits, lambs, goats, donkeys, ferrets, and many more. Rosie the 350 kg pig gives kids a proper piggy-back ride, Grizzly, the raccoon, is a gifted pickpocket, Tui and Allan, the tame foxes make perfect (live) fur collars for fashion conscious ladies and Monty, the 4 meter Python, even makes a perfect scarf for at least 6 people at a time.

The farm tour is a guided walk around the farm covering the following:
​The history of the farm, a guided tour of the farmyard and its facilities including the milking parlour, tour of the farmland to view the dairy cows, sheep and potatoes. ​
